Expose yourself. If not, then when?
Home Exchange! Why use it and what is it? Expose yourself to a new culture says Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz. Heard of "The Holiday"...?
(3) Surprisingly delightful reasons to use Home Exchange!
Reason #1: it could include using the home owner’s cool car, maybe baby a Porsche…
YES! Believe it. This is not a farce! Listen below…if you prefer, otherwise keep reading!
I just bookmarked a stay in Rome with a cute red Fiat 500 x (FOR FREE). The owner is a single young woman who has two homes: one in Rome and one in Ladispoli. The beach cottage is a little remote and it is a must to have a car. The likelihood of finding a car rental that is affordable and not stick shift is very close to none there. The best part is….I don’t have to do a reciprocal exchange if I don’t want to! You may have to pay a cleaning fee or insurance fee, fyi.
Reason #2: You don’t have to worry about the dates matching theirs
Simply, you just have to find someone who has the luxury of a 2nd home. Not all exchanges on Home Exchange app have to be for the same time frame. The best part about using the app is that you give Home Exchange points so that the host may use the points for some future travel place of their choice. Not necessarily your specific home. ALSO! MOST IMPORTANTLY! You don’t have to be a house owner. There’s everything on the app from swanky airstreams, to adu’s, to mansions. It’s an entirely free, and point based app for swapping travel points and homes of any kind. You gain points by building a detailed profile, communicating with other home swappers, and sharing the app with an invitation code. I received 1,600 for effortlessly building my profile. Most stays range from 82 - 290 points a night (mostly based on square footage of the home).
Reason #3: you meet incredible fellow international travelers.
The app encourages people to build community by giving positive reinforcement for lots of communication within the app. The more you chat with home swappers = the more points you receive = the more new travel insights you get. THE BEST PART of this entire platform are the connections made with people from an entirely different culture. They give you special local insights and quite honestly, some of the best loyal friendships. It is basically a club for the antithesis of Airbnb; the people revolting the lack of neighborly happenings.
